Formed in 1950 at the inaugural meeting of ICOM, the Comité International pour la Documentation (CIDOC) has a long tradition of offering training workshops and seminars. CIDOC's membership is truly international - a community of documentation specialists from more than 70 countries. This collective expertise and experience puts CIDOC in a unique position to provide training in museum documentation in a wide range of languages.
University of Tartu
The Univesity of Tartu was founded in 1632. The earliest courses related to work in memory institutions were started in 1927, and in 1953, specialisations in archival work, ethnography and bibliography were made available. By now, after decades long restructurations and changes, museum work related courses are taught at the Institute of History and Archaeology, at the Institute of Social Studies, and at the Department of Estonian Native Crafts in the Viljandi Culture Academy.
